Our Partners
Premier Water Solutions is engaged with ongoing research into water management and has forged partnerships to assist in the progress.
Premier Water Solutions is committed to exploring new and better ways to protect property from flooding as well as protecting the environment in keeping with the Environmental Act 2021.
We have partnered with University of Exeter, HM Government and European-funded projects to embark on a programme of research and development to explore new and innovative ways to protect the 15,000 homes that are at risk from flooding in Cornwall as well as monitoring potential risks – thus improving water quality to inland waters.
We are working in partnership with the funding bodies below to deliver new systems to challenge the way we currently manage water quality and flood risks.
Superfast Cornwall: digitalising our processes
Help with digitalising the internal processes at PWS, to enhance efficiency along with technical legal advice.
Deep Digital Cornwall: groundwater monitoring
Funding to aid real time monitoring of ground water levels to create a dataset that will help in early recognition of areas at risk of flooding.
Deep Digital Cornwall provided with a large sum of partially match funded grant to develop groundwater monitoring technology across Cornwall. The Environment Agency currently monitors one borehole in real time and we are now providing groundwater monitoring in 22 boreholes and 10 rainfall stations. This is now providing valuable data on actual groundwater table and seasonal fluctuations. This technology will be available for developers who are looking to use soakaways or attenuation ponds as a SUDS solution to ensure that the runoff form the catchment is inline with the Current Guidance, but now ensuring that the SuDS features are not impacted by the winter ground water table.
Unlocking Potential: digital transformation
Digital Transformation Future Focus 2 Programme
Help with kickstarting the digitalisation process of operational procedures at PWS.
Discovery and Diagnosis Session: Louisa’s role has completely changed to work “on the business” rather than “in the business”.
She received validation and respect for her vision of how her business could grow, in particular how she could use technology to differentiate her from her competitors. She says her interactions with Unlocking Potential as a whole have boosted her confidence.
Louisa initially wanted to have a bespoke system created but initially received assistance researching appropriate software and then reassurance that the software she had been recommended by a peer ticked all of the boxes on her list of requirements.
This software is now fully implemented and is expected to save both time and money as admin is reduced, improving the workload of the team and the customer journey of clients. She has been asked to be subject of a video case study for the provider as her ideas have pushed the boundaries of how the software is used.
Costing – useful conversations were had about costing. Louisa was already aware it was an important issue. She was helped to create an Excel tool to sketch out how quotes could be built reliably, these ideas were then used as part of the implementation of the Re-flow Field Management software. Coaching was received from our Accounting mentor to help the accounts clerk understand how best to use Quickbooks with regards to cashflow and how to review projects.
Attending workshops such as Agile Product Development and Using Innovative Thinking to Solve your Business Problems inspired Louisa to have further product and service ideas and make excellent connections for future collaborations. Working with us opened Louisa’s eyes to the amount of funding that was available, she received signposting wherever possible to maximise the amount of help received.
She now looks at her role and business with new perspective looking to create many services and products to add to their current portfolio that heavily use technical solutions which can completely revolutionise the level of service they able to provide and the new system gives her the solid foundation of systems to be able to expand once all of the new service projects are ready to launch.
Cornwall Aerospace: market research
A market research grant to help Premier Water Solutions ascertain the need and logistics of monitoring, and managing, oil interceptors and grease traps at Newquay Airport with a view to expanding beyond airports to out of town shopping centres in order to protect inland waters.
Tevi: alert apparatus
Support to develop a comprehensive alert apparatus for waste water treatment plants, so that biological as well as mechanical failures are sent to the head office enhancing their maintenance service and changing it from reactive to proactive.
Waste Water Treatment Plants and Pump Stations
TEVI provided us with funding to develop our new remote sensor technology which will transform our business form a reactive waste water maintenance company to a proactive one, we are monitoring treatment plants in real time for water quality, so we can see when the treatment plants or pump station has had a change form ‘normal’ operation, ie a decrease in ph or dissolved oxygen. This will then send an email alert to us to inform of the deviation. We can then put the site onto our list for a planned maintenance visit, to make any necessary tweaks to the operation, prior to a massive and catastrophic failure. These water quality monitoring equipment will be able to be sold as ‘remote monitoring kits’ under our gold service package for maintenance.
University of Exeter: immersive experience
Premier Water Solutions 10 Ltd (PWS) seeks to be at the forefront of alerting homeowners to the necessity of property flood resilience (PFR). To achieve this, we have worked with University of Exeter Immersive Business to develop a VR 360 view of a simulated flooding at a home showing the likely outcome of having no protection and having PFR in place. Use the mouse to scroll around the room in this video (which can also be viewed in 4k high resolution).
Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Hub: growth in the workforce
Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Hub offered essential advice to facilitate growth in the workforce. Read more here.
European Funding: environmental intelligence
Premier Water secure about £65k of European Funding to transform the business into the Environmental Intelligence market. We are in the early stages of developing and trialling the sensors and we have had key support from University of Exeter, to provide solutions for monitoring the environment and obtaining the data in real time onto our purpose built dashboard to enable us to make key decisions about the systems we are monitoring.
